Cut your pattern out of cardboard, posterboard, construction paper or a grocery sack. You can use regular paper if necessary, but it is easier to cut out the gingerbread using a heavier pattern.
You will need 6 pieces for a basic gingerbread house:
2 sides
A front and a back
2 sections for the pitched roof
Cut the following patterns out of your choice of material.
Roof (cut 2)
Use a ruler to make a rectangle 7" x 11"
Sides (cut 2)
Use a ruler to make a rectangle 5" x 8"
Front and Back (cut 2)
The base will be 5" wide. The total height will be 9".
Draw your pattern as shown in the picture.
